Community Classrooms provide a way for homeschool students to participate in group instruction focused on improving academic and social skills.
In partnership with homeschool programs, students are provided up to 16 hours of group instruction a week (9am-1pm Monday-Thursday or 11am-3pm Monday-Thursday). Students are placed based on learning level, not on age.
Morning group is designed for early learners whose language is still in acquisition or who are still acquiring the skills they need to be more independent in their learning.
Afternoon group is developed for children who are at grade level or a little behind and already have the ability to learn in small groups.
We are excited to run small group programs so that the children and youth we support can practice their friendship skills and make some new friends.
You do not need to be a current client to enroll and your child doesn't have to be diagnosed with Autism or any other conditions. An intake process will be conducted to ensure that we have a good fit.
If we do not have a current group in place, we are open to working with families to ensure needs are met.
Salish Sea Behaviour Consulting specialises in developing home-based supports to teach a variety of academic and lifeskills in a fun and engaging way. Services include supporting a variety of skill acquisition goals, family support and training and providing ongoing oversight to maintain high quality intervention as well as addressing challenging behaviours as they crop up.
We are always happy to collaborate with other team members to ensure the most success for families.
We also support with skills like toileting, feeding interventions and communication support. All behaviour support programs are overseen by Board Certified Behaviour Analysts.
The Interview-Informed Synthesized Contingency Analysis (IISCA) is an empirically validated approach to supporting individuals who require an intensive level of behaviour support due to high and dangerous levels of self-injurious behaviours, aggression or stereotypy that occurs at such a level as to impede access to community supports. Also known as Gregory Hanley's "My Way" program this program requires a high level of support from your behaviour support team.
For less intense yet still impactful challenging behaviours you may want to consider a positive behaviour support plan (PBS): Structured interviews and observation alongside positive behaviour support strategies, are used to develop comprehensive behaviour plans to successfully reduce a variety of problem behaviours across settings.
Salish Sea Behaviour Consulting's philosophy takes a person-centred approach to ensure that behaviour change is both meaningful and lasting,
All behaviour support programs are overseen by Board Certified Behaviour Analysts.
